6 Decades, 1 building: 3150 N Lake Shore, Chicago

In 1963, a building completed construction on Chicago’s Streeterville area. Made of all concrete, 3150 N. Lake Shore rose to hit 38 floors at a final height of 339 feet.

The building was designed by Shaw, Metz and Associates whom utilized a modernist architectural style when designing the building. The project showcases expansive windows to optimize the beautiful views of Lake Michigan for owners. The building has always been a condo building.

203 units, built by Crane Construction.

The architects designed very straight forward floor plans, that are so comfortable with beautiful views and close proximity to the lake while being considered one of the more affordable places to live on Lake Shore. Below is the blue print, showing the floor plans from the 3rd floor, an original from the Art Institutes Archives.
